WHAT

Indypendentemente is a network.
It was born with the aim of connecting independent entities operating in the fields of art and culture, such as bookshops, acting companies, literary magazines and opinion blogs, publishers, cultural associations, and so on. In-de-pendere*, do not hang down from anything. What best characterizes these independent entities is the fact not to hang their significance and self- existence on dominant superstructures, no matter whether one calls the latter “market”, “institutions” or simply “conformism of ideas”.
The independents are not all the same apples that hang down from the same tree, they are the most diverse flowers in a boundless meadow. Diversity and specificity, in fact, constitute another important feature of the independents. Recently, we use to talk about "bibliodiversity" in relation to the book market: bibliodiversity as an asset to be preserved against the restricted and standardizing thought imposed by the book industries, against the mentality of the top ten books in the supermarkets, against the “googlization” of our knowledge by the Unique Book of the universal digitization. The very existence of a "cultural biodiversity" and the need for its protection, however, can be extended to all the independent entities described above, which, due to their "lack of hooks" and their uniqueness, are by nature precious but fragile. For all of them, creating a network - a horizontal, dynamic, and plural network under the flag of indy-pendence - is the best way to protect and valorize themselves, looking for new forms of cooperation, and pursuing virtuous mechanisms for an actual economy of culture.
The independents are not all the same apples that hang down from the same tree, they are the most diverse flowers in a boundless meadow. Indypendentemente wants to be an industrious bee. (C.L.)
